Edwin Lutyens: Country Houses

By: Stamp, Gavin

Price: $30.00

Quantity: 1 available

Many of the remarkable documentary photographs and perhaps some of the text originally appeared in issues of the periodical, Country Life. Presumed first printing of the first American edition thus. Printed and bound in the USA. Black paper hardboards, with crisp silver-stamped lettering to the spine. 12 x 10 inches. Unbumped spine head and tail, with gently bumped upper corners. With 192 numbered pages, plus scores of B&W plates of archival photographs illustrating building exteriors and interiors designed by Lutyens. All plates on glossy, heavy-weight stock, with some plates full-page. Discreet remainder mark at the bottom, else an exceptionally clean copy, and very tight. Almost certainly unread. Lovely full-pictorial DJ, unclipped and with almost no trace of rubbing or wear. A Near Fine copy in a Near Fine DJ. Truly a handsome book illustrating why Lutyens, an architect of rare genius and humanity, may be considered among the greatest of British architects.
